Treasure.

What do you picture when you think of treasure? Pirates? Fancy jewelry? Gold and silver?

When I think about treasure I think of something that is special and maybe even one of a kind. Rare and valuable, but maybe not in the sense of money. Like time is a treasure especially as we get older. People are a treasure when you don't get to see them as often as you would like. It all depends on your perspective and the subject.

As a young child the days seemed to go on forever especially during the summer months. I didn't have more hours in the day, but I had less to occupy my mind. It seemed like longer days. Now that I plan so many things in a day, my days tend to fly by quickly. I am trying to be spend my resources wisely including my limited time.

Okay, back to treasure. God's Word tells us about treasure. You can find several passages touching on this particular subject. I am looking at 2 Corinthians chapter 4. Verse 7 says "Treasure is kept in clay jars. In the same way, we have the treasure of the good news in these earthly bodies of ours. That shows that the mighty power of the good news comes from God. It doesn't come from us."

Isn't it fascinating to think that our Creator has chosen to place the Light of the world in our broken vessels? It is astounding and humbling at the same time. We are the hope of the world in us as we go throughout our days.

No matter how chipped or broken your pot may be He is choosing to use you to share His love everywhere you go. You don't have to feel like you have got to get it all together before He can use you. Your broken pot is exactly what He plans to point people to Him.

Let's focus on His ways and allow Him to use us in our homes, our careers, our hobbies, our everything! Spend some time getting to know Him each day, and you will be pleasantly surprised that He will meet you right where you are!

Blessings to you from another broken vessel!

Living for Him,

It's December 2017. Is anyone else surprised that Christmas is literally two weeks away?

We tend to put alot of pressure on ourselves to make this holiday season the best it could possibly be for our loved ones and everyone around us. I am a little worn out from a busy past few months, and to be honest I would rather get together with a few people and sit on the couch watching Hallmark movies and laughing at silly memories from years past.

Is anyone with me on this? We are all very blessed and fortunate in so many ways, and I simply want to enjoy the people I love and love me in return. I don't need a fancy gift or a shiny bracelet. Hugs and laughter are all I want this holiday season.

As you look at your calendar and feel the anxiety welling up, pause and thank God for breath and life. Then prioritize the really important opportunities, so you won't miss the best of this holiday season.

There are many ways that we can make a difference this time of year. Look for an opportunity that you can share what has been given to you. Maybe it is time spent with a neighbor or a donated toy for a less fortunate child. We can all do something. Let's shine this season in His Name!

May God bless you and your family!

Living for Him,

Stronghold...

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary it is a fortified place. Ex.: a fortress, fort, wall, a prison. It is hard to get through it or in it or out of it.

It is a place of security or survival.

It is a place dominated by a particular group or marked by a particular characteristic.

A stronghold can be an emotional issue not a physical issue. An attitude or emotion that stays with you and dominates your thoughts. Such as anger, depression, discouragement, frustration, fear, selfishness, envy, etc.

How do we overcome an emotional stronghold? God has promised in His Word (James 3:13-18) that if we read it He will give us wisdom from above. When you know what He says everything else will make sense, because you are looking through a lense of truth. His Word is like nourishment for our hearts and minds. When you know and understand who you are in Christ then you don't have to worry or believe false information.

John 10:10 tells us He gives us full life!

2 Corinthians 11:23-31 says we can boast in our weaknesses!

Matthew 6:34 reminds us that we don't have to worry!

John 16:33 says have peace and be courageous!

John 17:20-26 says that JESUS PRAYED FOR YOU!!!

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my STRONGHOLD!!!

If you are suffering from depression you can meditate/focus on Psalm 42:5 and Isaiah 26:3. Your hope is in God alone. Accept the truth. He is Savior. Trust Him!

Maybe your struggle is anger. Read Matthew 5:21-22 and Proverbs 22:24. Guard your heart. Love others. Reconcile with a brother or sister. Choose companions and friends wisely.

Is jealousy the thing that keeps holding you down? Ecclesiastes 4:4 and James 3:18 will remind you to seek wisdom from God. Appreciate the joys of life. Promote unity of believers.

So, we you can choose your stronghold. Is it God Who is the ultimate security? If not, then take time to pray and ask Him to help you trust Him more. Ask Him to show you how to love others the way He loves you. He longs to hear from you, and He wants to spend time with you. What are you waiting for?

When we search God's Word to combat lies from the enemy it is a glorious pursuit! Choose an attitude of joy every day and watch God use you in a mighty way for His glory!

Blessings to you!!!

Living for Him,

Lottietag:lottiepartridge.com,2005:Post/61400872017-02-06T12:00:00-12:002017-02-06T19:35:31-12:00Relationship is a process

Community. As people, I think we all desire to be with other people.

We want to have someone that will listen to us, share our activities, cry with us when things go wrong.

Sometimes I think we forget the importance of community. God created us to have a desire to be in community with other people. It is as natural as breathing air. We need each other.

But, we also need Him. We cannot replace our time with God with time with other people. They cannot answer all of our questions or satisfy all of our needs or wants. He wants to speak to you too.

No matter how old or how young we are we want to share our good news with a friend. I love watching children share their happy moments, because they are excited about everything. That must be the way we look to God when we come to Him and talk about our days.

Do I remember to come to Him as a child? Do I rest in the fact that He is always willing to hold me in the dark moments and celebrate with me in the brighter days?

As we share our days with those around us, let's not forget to talk to and thank the One Who holds it all in motion. He loves you and me. He has great plans for us, and we can include Him in our everyday living. Maybe you talk to Him first thing in the morning before your feet hit the floor. Maybe it is in the car on the way to work. Just use the time He has given You and talk to Him. He will listen.

"Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He Who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

He is faithful to us and sees us. He has not moved or forgotten about you and me. Let's include Him in all we do. And let's point others to Him. Love God. Love people.

Blessings to you!!!

Living for Him,

JOY...

Tis the season... Are you feeling the "joy of the season" or are you in a hurry to just get through the holidays? It seems more and more people are telling me that they just can't wait to get it over with. Makes you wonder if we possibly have misplaced the point of the whole thing, am I right?

Don't get me wrong. Occasionally I find myself standing in my kitchen covering my face and talking myself off the ledge so to speak. "It's okay. The dishes will get washed AGAIN. The laundry and bed and floors and cookies ...." You get the idea.

In all of these things we can easily become distracted by the chaos of life and miss out on the JOY of the season.

This is the time of the year when we can come together and focus on our Risen Savior. We can hang out with friends and family because we have days off. We can choose to refocus our attention for a little while to see the people God has placed around us. We can also be a light in a dark world that is needing to meet our Savior too!

When you find yourself feeling a little depleted and maybe even stressed about the perfect gifts, the guests that are coming over, the crowds at the stores, traffic - stop and pray and ask God to remind you. Remind you about what truly matters and how much He loves you. Ask Him to remind you what He wants you to do to be a blessing to those around you.

Joy - Exhilaration, excitement, anticipation

The Shepherds and the Angels

"In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough. Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors!"

Merry Christmas to you and blessings for an amazing year!!! Keep looking up!!!

Worry/Anxiety.

Do you ever worry? What about anxious thoughts? Are they manageable or overwhelming?

I have had moments where I literally thought I could not breathe and felt like I would faint right where I stood.

The fear can be debilitating and crippling and cause us to forget who we are and who we belong to.

But... it doesn't have to be that way. Because we know who our daddy is, and He is our strength!

The fear, worry, anxiety is a false emotion that does not own us. There is an enemy that would love for us to believe the lies - that God doesn't care about you or your situation and on and on and on.

However, we know that God's Word is true, and we can trust what He says about us today and forever!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1

"For the word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all he does." Psalm 33:4

When in doubt walk it out! Let's look at the scriptures to see what God says and what He has in store for His children.

Philippians 4:4-7

"4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

The peace and understanding to get through a difficult situation or season comes only from God. We must pray with a thankful heart as we ask Him to carry us through the trials and valleys.

I have personally cried out to God and felt His peace overwhelm me in the best way. If you are walking through a painful season you can trust that He is walking alongside you and longs to comfort you.

This holiday season be purposeful in thanking God for the blessings you have received and share your overflow with those around you.

Blessings to you and your family!

Lottie

Lottietag:lottiepartridge.com,2005:Post/61400842016-09-19T12:00:00-12:002016-09-19T19:07:49-12:00Weakness

Weakness...

Why do we think weakness is a bad thing? Is it because we don't want to seem like we don't have it together?

The truth is God is visible when we allow our weakness to be seen by others. It can actually encourage someone else by you and I being vulnerable. The people around us can see His strength holding us up in the difficult moments of life.

Do you know anyone that you think has it all together? If you ask that person you can be sure they will let you know that their life isn't perfect. Nobody's life is perfect. That is a lie from the enemy, and we don't have to buy into it.

Today let's give up our false expectations and choose to believe what God says!

If you find yourself watching shows or movies that paint unrealistic expectations for your family and friends - stop watching them. It doesn't help build you up or help you to be the person God has already called you to be.

Replace some of your social media time with bible study and prayer. Take an opportunity to serve someone you know that is lonely or serve at a local mission. Do something that requires you to step out and give to someone else. It will allow God to use you in unique ways, and you will begin to shift your focus.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

Let's admit that we are weak and need God's help to make it through our everyday lives.

Pride can hinder your ministry. God wants to use your circle of influence to point people to Him. Let Him use you and your family.

Blessings to you!!!

Today's devo topic is Trust.

Definition: Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Who can you trust? Is it a long list or a very short list?

We trust that a chair can hold us up, right? You don't walk up to the chair and shake it to be sure it will hold you. We trust that our air conditioner will work on the hottest of days. We trust that if we make the right choices life will be perfect.

Each day we go through life trusting that things will go as we plan. But we need to make sure that we are putting our trust in the things and people that matter most to us. Think of it as an investment.

The most important area of trust is with our Heavenly Father.

He will always lead us to make the wise choice, and He will always be there to lean on and see you through.

Whatever you may be going through right now God is ready to guide you through it. He will make a way.

We can place our trust in Jesus Christ!

Embrace The Journey.

That is certainly easier said than done. How often do you find yourself saying, "Why is this taking so long?" Sometimes I say it's because I am a slow learner. God is being very patient with me lol.

There are times that we want to hurry the process to get to the end result, especially when we talk about diets and exercise. The end result is way more exciting than the discipline required to get where we are going.

The truth is that we need the time to get the result, but we don't want to be patient to achieve it. We can't rush diamonds and pearls. The process is necessary, even if we don't want to admit it.

Hopefully this will be an encouragement to you. We can wait and work and discipline ourselves to be the best version He intends for us to be. Everything we do and have comes from God. He can surely strengthen us and make a way for us to achieve the goals we set if we include His plans for us.

Each step we take - let's be purposeful. Let's not waste a moment or opportunity to step out in faith and be a blessing to those around us. Let's press on toward our goal, and we can lift each other up along the way!

If you feel like you are falling behind and need a little motivation connect with a friend and encourage one another. Pray for one another. Pray with one another too!

This life can be challenging, and we need each other. We need to support each other. We need to show a dark world that God is our strength, and He loves them too!

"For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God's love, and to know the Messiah's love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us- to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:14-21)

Dear God,

We praise You and we are in awe of You. All that we have, the very air we breathe is a gift from You. We seek Your guidance in all we do, and we pray that You are glorified in every step we take.

In Jesus' precious and holy name,

Amen.

Lottietag:lottiepartridge.com,2005:Post/61400812016-03-03T12:00:00-12:002016-03-03T22:08:45-12:00Identity

Identity.

One word.

What is your identity?

Do you feel like you are wrapped up in what other people say you are?

Maybe you're a mother, a student, etc.

These things do not define you.

They are only a description of a part of you, something you do.

The only one who can truly define us is God. He created us for a purpose.

God defines who you are!

Jeremiah 29:11-13 tells us that He has a plan for our life.

His plan includes you being a blessing to those around you for His glory.

You and I are made in His image.

He does not make mistakes.

He made you amazing and creative.

He made you to point others to Him.

He made you to be a city on a hill in a dark world.

When you look at your reflection what do you see?

Maybe you are having a really great hair day.

Maybe you feel really tired from too much studying.

But reflections don't really tell you everything.

You may have a hard time seeing down deep that God has gifted you uniquely to serve Him.

Our hope is found in knowing the light of Christ. (Ephesians 1:18-19)

We do not have to let our current circumstances or opinions from other people dictate who we are.

We are children of the King!

When you know who you are it makes things a little easier.

You don't have to compete with those around you.

You don't have to try to gain acceptance.

The struggle of worth is over.

Encourage the ladies that God places around you. Be a sweet aroma!

Let today be the day that you are content in who He says you are. You are unique and that's okay.

Dear God,

Thank you for the gift of Your Son. For the ransom that we could never pay on our own. Please help us to never forget that we belong to the King of Kings and that is enough. We love you and serve you alone.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

February is the month of love. Everywhere you look there are valentines, flowers, chocolates, heart balloons, etc. Some people call it Single Awareness month. It is fun to watch people get excited over giving gifts to one another and celebrating friendships. That is a really cool thing, but when you don't feel loved it becomes a whole different thing.

So, what do you do when you don't "feel the love?"

Whether you feel loved or not, you are deeply loved. God, the Creator of the universe loves you! From the beginning of time He desired you. He longs to spend time with you, and He wants to be your everything.

John 3:16 tells us that He gave us His Son as a sacrifice, so that we can choose to spend forever with Him. But, we must make that choice. He doesn't force us to choose Him over ourselves.

As we read 1 Corinthians 13 we get to see a true picture of love. It is patient and kind and is not jealous and never ends!

As we go through our day let us remember to wear love everywhere we go, so that He shines through us in a dark world!

"Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)

What's in a name?

What name do you go by?

It may be your first name only, or a title such as: Stay At Home Mom, Sister, BFF, Teacher, Neighbor, Doctor, etc.

Each title means something special or unique.

There are different facets to each one of us, and our names often reflect that as well. I am a wife, mother, sister, friend, neighbor, small group leader, worship leader, songwriter, etc. These labels do not define me, but they describe me in some small way.

I recently did a study on the names of God. Each name is attempting to describe God, and each name holds a special meaning.

For instance: El Roi means "The God Who sees me", Abba means "Father", El Elyon means "God Most High", Jehovah-Ra'ah means "The Lord is my Shepherd", Elohim means "Mighty Creator".

God has many names, and each one is quite special to His character. It is seemingly impossible to grasp the majesty and splendor of our God and King. Although He is above and beyond our comprehension He desires to know us intimately.

I pray that we never lose sight of the One Who holds the stars and calls us by name.

Psalm 23 reminds us that He is our Shepherd, guiding us daily and we lack nothing in His care. You and I are special and He knows our names. Can you even begin to grasp that concept? Wow! That means you can trust Him with everything.

Dear God,

We praise You and thank You for Who You are! You are more than enough and are capable of guiding us to do what You have called us to do in Your Name. All blessings and honor are to You alone!

In Jesus' precious and holy Name,

Amen

Shine a light!

(Grab a cup of coffee/tea and sit for a moment)

It's a new year and a great opportunity to do things differently, better, smarter, etc. Do you have any ideas to make this year count? make it matter? positive changes?

Often times I find myself second guessing the things I believe God is showing me or telling me. It doesn't seem to make logical sense or even seem like something I would naturally lean toward doing. That's usually how I know He is leading me to do it. Haha!

You and I are given an opportunity to share Jesus everywhere we go. May we never forget Who we represent and choose to serve Him daily.

One way to improve in this area is to find time each day to sit and be still. The quiet moments can be the best moments to allow Him to speak to you. A great thing to do is to get a notebook to write down some verses that encourage you and include some names of family and friends that you can pray for during this time. Who wouldn't appreciate a friend that will pray for us?

An encouragement to you and me for this year is to seek Him first in all we do. His plans are always better than our plans. He has promised to go before us, to make a path for us if only we seek His direction. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 HCSB)

Blessings to you!!!

Well Thanksgiving has come and gone.

Now we enter into the most wonderful time of the year.

Why is it that when we look around many of our friends and family look tired and worn? The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can leave us feeling anything but joyful unless we are purposeful in how we spend our time and resources.

Thankful Hearts

Do you ever feel like you have everything together? As if there is nothing left to clean, buy, wash, put away, etc. Contentment is a very tricky thing, but I do believe we can find it daily.

As I look around I am reminded that everything I truly need God has provided above and beyond. Most of it I did not ask for specifically, and yet my Father in heaven chose to provide it for me anyway.

I am choosing to have a thankful heart. Thankful for all that I have, and I am choosing to be thankful for all that I do not have. My Father knows what I need before I even say the words. I am choosing to trust Him and His plan for my life.

Please join me in looking for ways to be a blessing to the people around us and spend time thanking God for Who He is and all He has done!

"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations." (Psalms 100:4-5)

Have you thought about being a missionary?

You don't have to move to a foreign land to share the Gospel. You simply start where you are: in your home, in your neighborhood, at your school/work. God wants to use you right where you are.

(1 Corinthians 10:31) says "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God's glory." Everything? That leaves alot of options to show Jesus in our everyday lives. Aka- random acts of kindness.

We can look for ways to help others and show them that God loves them. "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

He gave the ultimate sacrifice for ALL of us. We must share the Good News with everyone. What a joy to be a part of His plan!

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13) Did you notice the word "everyone"? How beautiful to know that He loves ALL OF US..

Blessings to you and your mission!!!

Prayer

Such a powerful thing. Do we use it as a first resource or a last resort? Isn't it crazy to think that the God of the universe, the Creator of all living and breathing things, desires to hear from us?

We were created for His pleasure, and He longs to have us communicate with Him on a daily basis. Even at the beginning He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. (Genesis 3:8)

How can we know His voice? We must stop and be still before Him. Listen more and speak less in His Presence. (I am talking to myself right here.) There is freedom in addressing our Father, but we must also take time to hear from Him and His plans for our lives. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Never underestimate the power of prayer for you and for those around you. Let us remember to pray for each other and encourage one another daily. It is a beautiful gift from our Father, and He loves us so much!!!

Praise God the veil was torn, and we can approach the throne of grace with boldness!!! (Matthew 27:51)

Have a wonderful day!!!

Living for Him,

Lottietag:lottiepartridge.com,2005:Post/61400732015-07-26T12:00:00-12:002015-08-18T19:53:05-12:00Fear Not!!!

Fear. Do you ever struggle with fear? Sometimes it will hit me out of the blue. Usually it is something completely ridiculous and would never happen. But the result is the same - anxious thoughts, tightness in the chest. You get the idea.

How are we supposed to handle these emotions when they start to take over us? I turn to God's Word to guide me and direct me in what He says and not what I am feeling at the moment. "Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9) This verse reminds us that He is with us ALWAYS. There is so much comfort in knowing that the Creator of the universe cares for us and about us.

So, the next time you begin to feel overwhelmed with this life and the challenges you are facing, remember what He said. You will accomplish what He has called you to do. It may look differently than you would plan, and that's okay.

Take time each day to read His Word, pray/listen to Him and encourage a friend along the way.

Blessings to you!!! - Lottie

Worship

This is one of my favorite things to talk about. Often we misunderstand that our worship isn't really that important, but to God it is extremely important.

Our worship is something that we can choose to hold back or offer with everything within us. God commands us to worship Him alone and to trust Him with our lives.

What is it that holds you and me back? Let's surrender it to God and let Him lead us through whatever lies ahead!.

"But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him." (John 4:23) HCSB

Dear God, Please help us to trust you more and to free ourselves up to worship you in Spirit and in Truth as Your Word has instructed us to do. Please flood our hearts with your goodness and mercy and Your unending love for us as Your children. In Jesus' holy and precious name. Amen!
